Our written statement under the Children First Act 2015, setting out how we keep students safe from harm while they are with us. Last reviewed: 1 August 2025.
This Child Safeguarding Statement is made by Reviseonline Limited (registered in Ireland, company no. 418387), trading as Revise.ie ("Revise", "we", "us"). We provide supervised evening study, Maths grinds, Saturday sessions, and Christmas and Easter revision courses for Junior and Leaving Certificate students in Kilkenny (Ormonde Hotel) and Athlone (TUS Athlone). Most of the students who avail of our services are under 18.
This statement has been developed in line with the Children First Act 2015, Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children, and Tusla's Child Safeguarding: A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Practice.
Revise is committed to safeguarding the children who use our service. Every child is treated with respect and dignity, and we will, as far as is practicable, ensure they are safe from harm while availing of our service. We recognise that child safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we will co-operate fully with Tusla, An Garda Síochána and other agencies in the interests of children.
"Harm", as defined in the Children First Act 2015, means assault, ill-treatment or neglect of a child, or sexual abuse of a child, whether caused by a single act, omission or circumstance, or a series or combination of these, in a manner that seriously affects or is likely to seriously affect the child's health, development or welfare.
We have carried out a written assessment of any potential for harm to a child while availing of our service. The areas of risk we identified, and the procedures we have in place to manage each, are set out below.
Unsupervised or one-to-one contact between an adult and a child.
All study, grind and course sessions are supervised and take place in open, visible rooms. There is always at least one supervisor present in each room. No member of staff works alone, one-to-one, with a child behind a closed door.
Arrivals, collection and movement around the venue.
Attendance is recorded at the door and parents are kept informed. Students do not leave the venue during a session without prior arrangement. Students are responsible for their own travel to and from the centre, and Revise is not responsible for students outside scheduled programme times.
Recruiting or retaining an unsuitable person.
Anyone who works with children at Revise is Garda vetted through the National Vetting Bureau before they begin, and references are checked as part of a safe recruitment and selection process.
Failure to recognise or report harm.
Staff are given child-safeguarding information so they can recognise possible signs of harm, and there is a clear route for raising a concern with our Relevant Person, who reports to Tusla where required.
Harm or bullying between students.
Our house rules require silent, individual work and respectful behaviour. Sessions are supervised throughout, and students who repeatedly disrupt or harm others are removed. Any concern raised by or about a student is taken seriously and acted on.
Online and recorded grinds.
Online and recorded material delivered through our Mathslive platform is teaching content only. There is no private, one-to-one messaging between staff and students through the platform.
Photography and images.
Images of students are only taken and used with consent. We do not identify individual students without the consent of a parent or guardian.
In addition to the procedures listed in the risk assessment above, the following procedures support our commitment to safeguard children while they avail of our service:
The Relevant Person — the first point of contact in respect of this Child Safeguarding Statement — is Carl Lynch. They can be contacted at info@revise.ie or on 086 065 9817.
As a registered teacher, Carl Lynch is a mandated person under the Children First Act 2015 and is obliged to report concerns of harm above the defined threshold to Tusla, and to assist Tusla, if requested, in assessing such a concern.
If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child availing of our service, please contact our Relevant Person at the details above. Concerns that reach the threshold for reporting will be reported to Tusla. If a child is in immediate danger, contact An Garda Síochána without delay. You can also report a concern directly to Tusla — see tusla.ie.
This statement is provided to all staff. It is displayed in a prominent place at our centres and is available to parents and guardians, to Tusla and to members of the public on request. It will be reviewed at least once every 24 months, or sooner if there is a material change to our service or to relevant guidance.
