What you need to be thinking of!
This breaks into 7 weeks from midterm to Easter holidays plus just 4 weeks from Easter holidays to end of the school year.
This upcoming term can be tricky for a lot of students. Mocks have just finished. Results will be arriving soon.
Lots of students have projects to complete, plus everyone is starting to think about their orals taking place during the first week of Easter holidays.
The highs of the mocks are over. Those damned projects are a distraction.
All this adds up to a drop off in performance for a large number of students. We see this in our study data every year.
This is an opportunity for you! Get focused and organised NOW and you can steal an advantage on the majority of other students.
Must do’s
- If you have projects to complete……get them completed asap! Do not wait until the last minute. This just creates needless stress and prevents you from getting ahead with all your other revision.
- As the results from your mocks arrive, analyse them to judge where you need to concentrate your efforts. Don’t make any kneejerk decisions if some results are disappointing.
- If your doing leaving cert higher level maths and you got ‘only’ in the low to mid thirties….your probably fine. This exam is notorious for harshly marking students. You will get much higher marks in the ‘real thing’. Stay calm. Speak to your teacher.
Should do’s
- Remember how much work you got completed in the run up to the mocks. Sure it’s not possible to keep that pace up until June. However don’t get lazy. You will gain great confidence and satisfaction if you keep your revision levels up.
Our Saturday study sessions are the perfect venue to keep your output high. Surrounded by your friends, it feels a lot easier to stay focused.
- If you have a part time job it is time to start thinking about taking a break until after the exams are over. Your full time job now should be to concentrate in achieving your optimum results in the exams. If you work 10 more Saturdays earning 100e per day you will obviously make around 1,000 euro. Over your working life of 40 years this is a pittance!
Just 55 school days left. Keep your eyes firmly on that prize!
